Do you have a definition of
good health?
Chinese Medicine does.
Put simply, you should be able to live your life to
your fullest
capacity unhindered by pain, dysfunction or incapacity - whether
physical or emotional.
So why do most of us fall short of this ideal? Whether or not we have
identifiable medical
issues, why do so many of us feel that something, somewhere in our
lives is just 'not quite right'?
The answer lies in the idea of 'imbalance'. Our bodies are landscapes
of exquisitely balanced, interdependent
processes and when these are working in harmony, we feel healthy,
energised and 'in tune' with the world. However, when these processes
fail to work together in a harmonious way the resulting imbalance leads
to illness.
The exact nature and degree of illness depends on the specific
imbalances present,
a person's constitutional make up and on the effects of various
lifestyle factors.
Acupuncture uses the body's own healing processes to gently correct
imbalances thereby bringing
you back into equilibrium and can, therefore, treat a wide range of
problems. For
further information on the sort of conditions typically treated with
acupuncture, see our What Can
It Help
page.
